Melt (2022)
Joanne Wang
Embroidery and India ink on canvas.
20" x 16"

I started the India ink/embroidery series in early 2022 as an exploration of my grief after losing an important person in my life. The ink pouring process was loose, messy, and uncontrollable—similar to how my grief felt at the time. I spent the past year embroidering these works while processing my emotions, and the pastel stitches were my way of seeing the glimmers of hope, happiness, and new beginnings at the end of that dark tunnel.
