Empowering emerging artists.

It can be hard to break into the art world. At Wave Collective Space, we focus on supporting emerging, independent, local artists, creatives and makers. Our location on Haight St. is a place for artists and lovers of art to come together, share their passions, and build creative community. We’re also working on other ways to support artists through online sales & marketing, open studio tours, corporate events, and curating shows in other spaces.

We started Wave as a popup, but quickly realized that it should become a permanent space. The excitement & support we've received from friends, strangers, and the neighborhood has shown us how vital spaces like this are. We have decided to try and become a permanent space and re-launched in May with a membership model. We are hoping to attract folks who want to build creative community vs. a more “transactional" gallery-artist or gallery-client relationship. Membership dues will also help off-set the commission & fees we charge. In fact, we’re launching with only 20% commission (compared to the usual 50%-60%)! Come join us in creating affordable, flexible, and inclusive creative spaces in the city that we love!

Meet The Founders

Jamila Keba

Jamila is a San Francisco based artist, jeweler, and clothing maker. Spending her childhood in the Mission, her love of art and drive to create was fed by the colorful walls of the Mission's murals. She studied sculpture though the medium of welding in college, creating three dimensional contours. Though primarily a sculptor, after moving back to San Francisco in 2013 she had the opportunity to paint three murals on Clarion Alley, though none remain. Her sculpture work has evolved over the years, moving from metal to glass, which she shapes and melts with a torch - essentially welding in glass.

Co-Founder & Business Owner

Jenna Melnyk

While Jenna doesn’t manage our current space, she was integral in launching the project in our original pop-up space. Jenna is a (mostly) self-taught mixed-media artist, ceramics teacher, and curator. Her work is inspired by contemporary graphic design and a love of all things wobbly and odd. Through hand cut shapes and muted colors, she seeks to explore the interplay of ugly and beautiful. When she’s not helping out at Wave, you can find her in her veggie garden or art studio in Bernal Heights.
