Victorian Moth #1 (2023)

from $50.00

Victorian Moth #1 (2023)
Alvar Jacomet
Acrylic & molding paste on stretched canvas.
24"x36"

Alvar Jacomet is an American/Argentinian artist based in San Francisco. They studied fine art in Buenos Aires where they were majoring in sculpture before continuing thier studies at SF’s City College.

Alvar's personal style has been influenced by architecture from the beginning. Many of thier teachers at university had backgrounds in architecture, and some of thier favorite artists, like Lebbeus Woods, started as architects themselves.

"Living in San Francisco since 2020, I’ve been surrounded and inspired by Victorian architecture. Since then, I have been collecting modular elements of these structures, and using them to collage new figures. Shaped into recognizable forms and surreal structures, the original components calcify into a greater whole, and simultaneously celebrate the Victorian architectural style and completely do away with it."
